WASTELAND RADIO NEW ARCHIVES [GREY/429]
by Air Credits (C. Sandifer, S. Reidell)

Mixed by Greg Magers at The Attic
Mastered by Collin Jordan at Boiler Room

JOE CARSELLO: synth on "Do U Feel Real"
FYODOR SAKHNOVSKI: guitar/perc on "Push" + "Synthetic Love"
SEN MORIMOTO: saxophone on "Big Bang vRE9T"

When the physical records of music have disintegrated into the planet, and cloud storage is merely a relic of the past, denizens of the near future set out to restore as much music as they can.

Radio stations all across the worldwide wasteland employ New Archivists, whose job is to field requests from survivors— logging as little or as much information as someone is able to provide about a remembered piece of music, then re-creating the song to their best approximation. These songs are stored in vast archives alongside new music from the near future.

AIR CREDITS have been entrusted with bringing back select Wasteland Radio New Archives into the course of the present timeline. GREY/429 is the third volume they've retrieved and holds four new songs, with some guest contributions from Chicago musicians Sen Morimoto (Sooper Records), Fyodor Sakhnovski (Radiant Devices), and Joe Carsello (Lasers and Fast and Shit).

Occasionally, duplicate entries into the New Archives are found. See "Omega Planet vRE9T" from last year's Artería Verité collab with Sims and Icetep; it's a song tethered to "Hack The Planet vT05F" from Air Credits' 2017 Omega Virus cassette.

"Big Bang vRE9T" from this installment of Wasteland Radio New Archives holds some structural similarity to "Big Bang" off Chicago singer Lili K's recent Songs With Friends EP, but a listen through reveals that it's ultimately a different composition, musically and lyrically. Some echoes of Lili K's version do come through, broken, lost in communication. What will become of the archives?
